Purpose of use
This test kit is used for collecting, maintaining and transporting specimens for testing for various sexually transmitted diseases. It can be used for both males and females. Specimens that can be collected include vaginal discharge, urethral discharge, urine, or genital-anal sores.
Storage methods, expiration dates, and restrictions on storing specimens
- Store at room temperature, avoid direct sunlight.
- For expiration date, please see the packaging.
- Do not use this kit if the packaging is damaged or if the solution leaks from the tube. If the test kit is found to be incomplete, notify the company immediately.
- Do not collect the cotton swabs and urine together in the same transport tube.
- The presence of blood, other fluids, certain spermicides, and medications for vaginal conditions such as antifungals can interfere with the test. The effects of other factors that can affect the test, such as the use of tampons, douching, or improper sample collection, can also affect the test.
Return of samples to the laboratory
The specimen should be returned to the laboratory as soon as possible after collection. The device can maintain its accuracy for up to 14 days, but it is recommended that the specimen be returned within 48 hours after collection.
Before collecting the specimen
- The specimen can be collected at any time as desired, but it is recommended to test after waking up or at least 1 hour after the last urination to increase the amount of bacteria for testing.
- In case of collecting specimens with swabs, avoid contamination with urine, toilet paper or other objects during the collection of specimens.
- Completely fill in the “ Document : Sexual related infection testing form” in Part 1 and Part 2. If you are not sure about filling in the information, you can ask the Admin.
- If you do not want the identity of the person being examined to be revealed, you can enter anonymous information.
Procedure for collecting specimens from vaginal secretions (discharge), genital and anus wounds
- Please read the information in this document carefully. If you have any questions, please contact our staff at 089 874 9565 or LINE ID: @HealthSmile.
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- In a private room, undress from the waist down and sit on the toilet or a comfortable chair.
Do not clean , douche, or wash the wound with water or any wound dressings, as this may reduce the amount of germs that can be tested.
- Open the outer packaging and you will see a white envelope that says Specimen Collection Swab. Inside is an orange cotton swab.
- Open the package containing the cotton swab to collect the specimen at the desired location. Pull out the cotton swab carefully, do not touch the tip of the swab, and do not place it on the floor.
In the case of examination of vaginal secretions (discharge)
- Hold the orange cotton swab in your hand using two fingers: place your thumb and index finger on the crease of the orange cotton swab. Be careful not to break the cotton swab.
- Gently insert the cotton swab about 5 cm into your vagina or until your thumb and forefinger are close to your penis, and gently rotate the swab for 15 to 30 seconds. Make sure that the tip of the swab touches the vaginal wall so that any discharge (discharge) is absorbed by the cotton swab.
- Carefully remove the cotton swab from the vagina and continue to hold it in your hand.
In the case of examination of secretions from wounds in the genitals or anus
- Gently apply the cotton swab to the wound on the genitals or anus, starting from the blisters that are not yet wounds or the wounds that are already dry (if any), then gradually move to apply to fresh wounds that still have blood, pus, or secretions. At each point, gently rotate the cotton swab for 10 seconds, making sure that the tip of the cotton swab touches every part of the wound, both the center of the wound, the edges of the wound, including the scab. Do this for every part that has a wound so that the secretions are absorbed by the cotton swab.
Then, immediately insert the swab with the sample into the shipping tube and gently break the tip of the swab into the tube without removing the swab from the tube, discarding the top of the swab without the cotton. Close the cap of the tube tightly, place it in the provided Ziplock bag, and place it in a bubble wrap bag for shipping.
Urine collection procedure
- Please read the information in this document carefully. If you have any questions, please contact our staff at 089 874 9565 or LINE ID: @HealthSmile.
- You should hold your urine for at least 1 hour before the test.
- For women, the genital area should not be cleaned before collecting urine.
- For males, the tip of the penis should not be cleaned before collecting urine.
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Start collecting urine “from the first urination” approximately 20-30 cc (approximately 1/3 – 2/3 of the large container with a green lid). An excessive amount of urine may cause the bacteria to be diluted and may not be detected.
- Tear open the test kit bag that has a pipette (plastic straw), then use the straw to suck out approximately 3 cc of urine and place it in the DNA stabilization solution tube (orange cap). The appropriate amount can be observed when the urine volume rises to the square hole at the DNA stabilization solution tube (orange cap).
- Close the cap of the DNA fixing solution tube tightly and invert the tube three to four times to ensure that the urine is thoroughly mixed with the DNA fixing solution inside the tube.
- Put the tube containing the solution (orange cap) in the provided Ziplock bag and place it in another bubble wrap bag to wait for shipping.
